Another Thought, No, Two on Mother's Day

Mother's Day should be filled

with hearts and flowers

because of love.

Mother's Day should be wrapped in frills and lace,

as bandages wrapped tenderly on hurt fingers.

Mother's Day should be scented with lavender or spice

because you let me play dress-up, using a dab of your best perfume.

Mother's Day should be filled with pages and pages of memories,

happy or silly, fun and frantic too,

remembrances only a mother and child could share.

Thank you Mother, for genuine love, for each treasure I hold dear...

because of You.

Happy Mothers Day to you again, dear Dad!

You've just always helped me never be real sad.

I know you miss her so, but I just wanted you to know

that I would never want to be without you, Daddy!

You are top-special and so kind, and when we cuddle,

it's all ok again, and I don't mind so much the muddle.

You're my greatest pal and hero too, dear Daddy.

Let's get together soon and have another huddle.

Mothers young and old - those who have borne children and those who have physically not: Women of integrity, gentleness, understanding and wisdom -- and men who had to wear the role -- all are worthy of honor and celebration, deserving of their progeny's gratitude, assistance and praise. Blest be those who have borne the burdens and joys of children!

Tiny packages wrapped in webs of memory,

tucked inside the niches of my mind...

They rest intact in untouched places

waiting for that unexpected moment,

then spring-loaded, dive again into my

thoughts. What delight they bring,

handing me forgotten pleasures, nano

treasures from the past we shared.

A withered rose, a dime-store cameo,

that Evening in Paris blue scent.

A childish scrawl of love and kisses,

now embraced by frosted hair and

wrinkled hands, so gently do I hold.

My heart is filled with memory’s mist.

My breath is quick and enzymes flow

throughout my cells, because this heart

should burst with joy! And now

I know, so fully know the depth of love

and pain of Mothers. And I love so!

You taught me right and now I know...

No matter Time or circumstance,

nor instance wrapped abstained. It is

those treasured moments past that

built what has remained in me:

No senescence, nor crippled stance

in memory’s hall shall ere survive.

For you and I are soul-embraced,

mother-child, for all eternity. Our

mother's love is still alive!

Mothers are good cooks especially for making great soup from leftovers. And for letting you lick the beaters when she bakes a cake.

Mothers are really smart people because they know how to use spit for lots of things.

Mothers have eyes in the back of their head, but sometimes they don't see you on purpose. Like when you feed the dog little pieces of meat and other stuff he likes from your dinner plate

Grandmothers are just softer and squishier Mothers, and they give you quarters to spend on gum or candy. Their hugs are like kinda wiggly, but real nice.

Mothers know how to sew and cook and do laundry. They know how to clean ears too. And some of their soap tastes real bad!

Mothers are kinda sad when you are sick but they still take care of you in the night, even when they are real tired.

Some mothers hate pulling teeth and make you go to Daddy. Then she'll pay you big when you put it under your pillow, and act real surprised in the morning.

Some mothers are like roses and lace and teacups. Others are like boots and ropes and rasseling on the floor!

Some mothers make you share your candy because that is good manners. But then you gotta brush your teeth right away and I don't know what that means.

Mothers can give you a pretty good haircut after they practice a while.

Mothers try hard to help you get rid of the hiccups. But when it doesn't work they laugh with you and that helps.

Some mothers are short and some are tall. But mothers-- we love 'em one and all!

Mothers are secret angels. Daddy said so, and he knows lots of stuff.
